Rice Eventide, Sponsor of Fairing Way, Named One of Nation’s Best Nursing Homes by U.S. News
South Weymouth, MA – March 11, 2014 – The sponsor of Fairing Way (www.FairingWay.org), a new senior living community in South Weymouth at SouthField, has been named one of the Best Nursing Homes by U.S.News. The magazine shows a five-star rating for Rice Eventide in its newest, searchable database comparing the quality of American nursing homes.
“An estimated 3.3 million Americans will live in the nation’s nearly 16,000 nursing homes during 2013. That number translates to 1 in 7 people ages 65 and up, and more than 1 in 5 of those 85 and older. They and their families will want and need a way to find a source of the best possible care,” Avery Comarow wrote on the U.S. News website.
U.S. News’ searchable database, http://health.usnews.com/best-nursing-homes, shares data from Nursing Home Compare, a website run by the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Of the 16,000 nursing homes reviewed, only 3,036 nursing homes earned an overall rating of five stars from the federal government – among them Rice Eventide.
Star ratings are determined by several elements, including quality measures and nurse staffing. You can view the profile for Rice Eventide at http://health.usnews.com/best-nursing-homes/area/ma/william-b-rice-eventide-home-225739.
Rice Eventide opened the William B. Rice Eventide Home in 1928. It was the first retirement community in the South Shore (Massachusetts) area. In 2010, Rice Eventide announced it would be moving to the new SouthField development in South Weymouth and expanding the services offered to include independent living. More than 60 55+ South Shore adults have since reserved apartments at this new community, called Fairing Way. Construction is scheduled to begin this summer.
