Vibrant setting, timeless values

The Fairing Way campus combines modern amenities with timeless values, offers residents not only a place to live, but also a place where they can truly belong. Fairing Way is sponsored and developed by two not-for-profit, local leaders in senior living: William B. Rice Eventide Home and Rogerson Communities. Our founding

Fairing Way was formerly Rice Eventide Home, founded by Dr. Elmon Johnson and Mrs. William B. Rice. It opened in 1936 on Adams Street in Quincy, MA. While it began as a retirement home with a small infirmary, it eventually was licensed by the Department of Public Health as a Level II long-term care facility and began to offer 24-hour skilled nursing care. For over 100 years, we provided care to thousands of older adults, regardless of their income level.

Advancing our care

Rice Eventide eventually outgrew our Adams Street location. The building could not accommodate the advanced equipment our team wanted to use to provide superior services to community members. These factors motivated the development of a vibrant model of 55+ retirement communities—Fairing Way—and a move to the exciting new community of Union Point in South Weymouth.

A flexible approach

We then partnered with Rogerson Communities to create an exceptional senior apartment living environment for South Shore adults aged 65+. At Fairing Way, we offer the same hospitality and service that has defined Rice Eventide for the better part of a century, this time in distinctive senior living apartment-style homes with a flexible approach to lifestyle and health needs. Dwyer Home and Wingspan continue our legacy of superior care.
